Benefits of External Thermal Insulation

The external thermal insulation of buildings is a modern means of saving energy and not only in the building sector.

The building sector is responsible for 40% of the total energy consumed, so the margin of savings through this is quite high. At the same time as saving energy, we achieve several more important benefits such as:

a) Improvement of thermal comfort

With the application of external thermal insulation, the quality of the internal conditions of the building is improved at the same time. The structural elements retain the heat inside the building to a much greater extent in the winter and conversely make it difficult for it to penetrate during the summer months. Therefore, the benefit is also financial by spending less money on heating and cooling.

b) Removal of thermal bridges

The thermal bridges appear at the points where the structural elements alternate as well as around the perimeter of the frames. At these points there are large heat flows that can be easily detected using a thermal camera. The application of external thermal insulation in combination with the installation of thermal break frames helps to eliminate thermal bridges and therefore to achieve thermal comfort.

c) Upgrading property value

A properly applied external thermal insulation has a long life, protecting the structural elements and the load-bearing body, which also means upgrading the value of the property. This protection occurs through the waterproofing that is achieved and the proper breathability of the materials. Also, by applying external thermal insulation, we eliminate the cracks that an external masonry can have.
